R.I.P. Jeff Hanneman (Slayer)

I was reading some BBC news and found the bad news that Jeffrey John "Jeff" Hanneman just died earlier today. "Jeff", born on January 31 1964, was guitar player and founding member of the metal band Slayer. He influenced, wrote and co-wrote much of Slayer's songs. Several news agencies already expressed condolences and tributes to Jeff.

Today, from the album "Hell Awaits", the 2nd studio album of Slayer, my favorites Slayer's song, "At Dawn They Sleep". A song with music from Jeff and lyrics co-written by Jeff.

Wonderful Kilimanjaro: Toto, Africa.

Today a friend published a wonderful photo of Mount Kilimanjaro with snow at its top

The first that came to my mind was the Toto's description in its song Africa

"I know that I must do what's right 

As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti"

Really, the way Kilimanjaro dominates the Serengeti is... just wonderful. 

The song Africa is one the most famous song of the American band Toto. It was released in the 4th album of the band "Toto IV"

Dance of the Death. Iron Maiden

I was reading about the Everglades, and I remembered the sentence "One night wondering in the everglades I had one drink but no more", from the British band Iron Maiden.

This song from their 13th studio album soon became one my favorites. Once I heard someone saying that classic rock bands have no more good new songs (we know that's not true). With this song we have a good example that such statement is not true.

In order to begin the week with good energy, from Iron Maiden's 13th album "Dance of the Death", the same titled song.

R.I.P. Clive Burr (Iron Maiden)

I open the BBC news and found that Clive Burr, former drummer of Iron Maiden has died due to multiple sclerosis.

The bad news were announced by Steve Harris, bassist and founder of the band. Several personalities from like Bruce Dikinson, David Ellefson or Brian Slagal expressed tribute and condolences.

Dedicated to all women: Deff Leppard, Women

The 20th century witnessed worldwide movements for women rights demanding gender equality and against gender discrimation. In 1977 the United Nations General Assembly decided to proclaim March 8 as the international women's day

Sometimes we wonder (either serious or joke): How to describe women? 

I guess best description would be:

"One part love, one part wild, one part lady, one part child", just as described by Deff Leppard's song "Women"

Women is the first track of Hysteria, the 4th album of the British band Deff Leppard

Today, the song women dedicated to all the women and wishing all the best for all the women in the world

As stated by the song, "We can't live without them"

The Nobs?? Temporary name of Led Zeppelin

On February 28, 1970, during Led Zeppelin's European Tour, the had to use the name "The Nobs" for their Copenhagen show.

Countess Frau Eva von Zeppelin, grandchild from Count Ferdinand Adolf Heinrich August Graf von Zeppelin, felt that the band's use of the name was insulting and dishonoured her family; hence, she threatened to sue Led Zeppelin for illegal use of her family name. The band invited her to meet with them in a cordial meeting. However, when she saw the band's album cover showing the Hindemburg burning in flames she exploited again. Therefore, the band had to use a temporary name. It was decided to use "The Nobs", as a kind of recognition to their European tour manager Claude Nobs.

February 28, 1942 Brian Jones was born, former bass player of the British rock band "Rolling Stones". He was one of the founding members of the band, and some say that he was the one that came with the band's name.

Cliff Burton, Metallica

February 10, 1962 Clifford Lee Burton was born in Castro Valley, California. He was the bass player of the heavy metal band Metallica. He recorded the 3 first Metallica's album: Kill 'em all, Ride the lightning and Master of Puppets.

He is considered among the best bass players ever, and entered the Ronk And Roll Hall of Fame on April 2009.

Died on September 1986 when the band's tour bus over-turned in rural southern Sweden.

September 26, 1986 he performed his last concert at Stockholm (Sweden). Today I want to share Cliff's last concert.

Tierra Santa: Reino de los Suenos

Tierra Santa is a metal band from La Rioja - Spain. It was founded in 1997 and that year they released their 1st album (self produced) etitled "Mediaval". As suggested by the title, the songs were mainly about medieval legends.

From the mentioned album, the 7th track "Reino de los Suenos" (Kingdom of the dremas). A song that I like not only the music, but also its lyrics.
